Plans and billing

Administration → Billing & Subscriptions. Owners only.

:::note Recently changed

The Free plan has been removed. Every plan is now paid, starting at Starter, and signing up asks you to choose one first. An organization that was on Free — or one whose subscription is cancelled — sits in a no-plan state instead: everything it already has stays readable, but nothing new can be added until a plan is chosen. Nothing is ever deleted. Production and staging may be on different versions, so you may still see a Free plan on one of them.

The plans

:::note Recently changed

Seat prices are now whole dollars: $10, $15 and $20, where they were $9.99, $14.99 and $19.99. The five-seat minimums are $50, $75 and $100 a month. Production and staging may be on different versions, so you may still see the old prices on one of them.

Before that, Standard and Business rose to $14.99 and $19.99 from $12.99 and $15.99, so that the three plans step by $5 a seat. Earlier still, plans became priced per seat with storage a flat allowance per plan; previously each plan had a base price for five seats ($25, $35 and $50) with extra seats at $5, $7 and $10, and every extra seat added storage.

Test artifacts are evidence produced by running tests. Automation run screenshots are kept for 30 days on Starter and Standard and 90 days on Business, counted from the day they arrive; moving to another plan does not change how long screenshots already stored are kept. When they are removed the run says so where they used to be. Your test cases, their steps and their attachments are never removed by retention.

Visual testing captures and diffs follow the same retention. Baselines are kept differently — the default branch's current ones for as long as you are subscribed. See Retention.

Two-factor authentication is deliberately absent from that table: it is on every plan, including while a subscription is lapsed. A security control that switches itself off over an unpaid invoice is not a security control.

:::note Recently changed Two-factor used to appear in this table as a per-tier feature, and was not implemented. It now exists and is not gated. :::

Every plan is billed month to month, with no contract and no minimum term.

The testing phase

Sekee is not charging yet. While the testing phase runs, accounts are free and no trial expires. Your 14-day trial has not started — it begins when the free period ends, so nothing drops to the no-plan state in the meantime.

Billing starts on 6 January 2027. Before it does:

  • Every owner and admin gets 30 days' notice by email.
  • There is no card on file, and nothing is ever charged automatically. At the end of the notice period you either choose a plan or the organization stops — nobody is billed for a decision they did not make.
  • You can leave at any point before then, or simply stop using Sekee.

That date may be moved later, never earlier.

:::note Recently changed The app and sekee.io used to carry a banner saying all of this and naming the date. Those notices are switched off for now, while Sekee is still in development and not taking new accounts — so this page, and the email you will get, are where the free period is stated. Nothing about the period itself changed: accounts are still free, no trial expires, and the 30 days' notice still comes first. :::

Your trial starts on that date, not at signup, and runs its full 14 days from there — so an organization created in October 2026 has until 20 January 2027 to decide. Nobody loses access on the morning billing begins, and nobody arrives at it holding a trial that was spent months earlier while the product was free anyway.

:::note Recently changed The trial used to be stamped from the signup date and, when billing began, was moved to the billing date itself — which left no trial to use. It now starts on the billing date and runs the full 14 days from there. Production and staging may be on different versions, so on one of them a trial may still show an end date a fortnight after signup. :::

The free trial

Every new organization starts on a free trial of the plan chosen at signup. The trial is 14 days. While the testing phase runs it has not begun — it starts the day billing does. You get the plan's features, but whichever plan you chose, these limits apply until the trial ends:

During the trialLimit
Storage5 GB
Seats25
Paid viewer seats10

If the plan's own limit is lower, the plan's limit applies. Once you are on a paid plan, the plan's limits apply in full. The usage meters on this page show the limit that applies right now, so during a trial they show the trial limits.

When a trial ends without a plan, the organization moves to the no-plan state. This does not happen during the testing phase, which is where Sekee is now: trials do not end while accounts are free.

:::note Recently changed Trials used to have the chosen plan's full limits, so a Business trial had 500 GB of storage and unlimited seats. Production and staging may be on different versions, so you may still see the full limits during a trial on one of them. :::

No active plan

An organization can end up on no plan at all — after cancelling, or after a payment goes unresolved past the grace period. This is not a tier and it is not a free plan:

  • Everything already there stays readable. Nothing is deleted.
  • Nothing new can be created — no test cases, no runs, no uploads, no invites.
  • Every gated feature is off.

Choosing a plan on Administration → Billing & Subscriptions restores everything immediately.

Seats, viewers and storage

  • Seats are people who create and edit. Every plan has a minimum of five and is unlimited above that, every seat at the plan's seat price.
  • Viewers (guests) are invited under a weekly allowance that grows three at a time for every whole block of five seats. Viewers are free; permanent viewer seats can be bought at 40% of a full seat.
  • Storage is one flat allowance for the whole organization — 100 GB, 250 GB or 500 GB depending on the plan. Adding seats does not change it.

Quota is charged before the bytes are accepted on upload, because checking afterwards means the overage is already on disk.

How gating works

A gated feature is refused in three places: the sidebar hides the link, the router refuses the route once your plan is known, and the endpoint refuses for itself. The first two are courtesies — the endpoint is the one that matters, so a typed URL gets you nowhere.

If a whole organization suddenly reads as having no plan, that is usually the plan fields missing from the session payload rather than a billing change.

Changing plan

:::note Recently changed The plans are behind See all plans (Choose a plan when the organization has none) instead of being laid out under your current plan, and seat changes are saved from the plan panel itself. Usage is shown as figures, with a bar only on something close to or past its limit. :::

See all plans opens every plan side by side, priced at your current seat count. Seats and permanent viewer seats are adjusted with the steppers on your plan's own panel; nothing is billed until you press Save seat changes, which shows the new monthly total before you do.

Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period, and the screen tells you what you will lose — which features switch off, and whether your current seat count fits the plan you are moving to.

Cancelling sets the subscription to end at the period's close rather than stopping it dead; you keep what you paid for until then, and the organization moves to the no-plan state described above once it lapses.

Cancelling deletes nothing. If you want your data gone as well, see Deleting your organization — a separate, owner-only action with a seven-day window before it runs.
