What's new
What's new, in the sidebar directly above Settings, is where the Sekee team writes about Sekee: new features, and now and then a notice about the Service itself. It is the same news the product update emails carry, kept in the app for anyone who skims past email.
The number beside it in the sidebar counts what has arrived since you last opened it. That is remembered for your account rather than for the browser, so reading it on your phone clears it on your laptop too. Before your first visit it counts only what arrived after you joined: a company that signs up today starts with no number at all, and the older updates are on the page to read without being marked New.
The list
Newest first, as release notes — the 50 most recent. Each update shows its kind, Product update or Service notice, with a cover picture for that kind; its date; its first lines; and how many changes it lists — new, improved and fixed. Click anywhere on an update to read it on a page of its own. Anything that arrived since your last visit is marked New while you are on the page. Once there is a service notice in the list, tabs above it — All, Product updates, Service notices — narrow it to one kind.
Opening the list counts as reading everything on it. Opening a single announcement — from the list, or from an email's Read it in Sekee button — counts as reading that one and anything older; a newer one stays marked New.
An update's page
The update itself — text, pictures and short videos — then What has changed: every change in it, grouped under New, Improved and Fixed. At the foot, Newer and Older step to the updates either side of it; on a wide screen they sit in a panel beside the update, with its date and its counts.
Pictures and videos are only in Sekee. The email carries the text and the list of changes, and says when there is more to see.
Service notices
An announcement marked Service notice is about the Service itself, such as billing starting or a change to the terms. Its email cannot be switched off.
Owners and admins only
Any announcement, of either kind, can be written for owners and admins only. It then appears in What's new for owners and admins and for nobody else; anyone else who opens its address sees Announcement not found.
